Who’s behind the lens?
My name is Jacob Ames, and I’m a modern Renaissance man. From cliff jumping and slacklining to embroidery and jewelry making, I’ve tried everything I could get my hands on. Since I was young, I’ve created in every medium I could access. My curiosity eventually led me to video, as it was a medium that captured all of my interests in one place. I’ve been a cinematographer for eight years, and I’ve worked in nearly every position a filmmaker can: actor, cinematographer, producer, set designer, costume maker, prop designer, editor, sound designer, etc.
My passion for filmmaking and advertising was built on my intense curiosity about people and their stories. There is no better feeling for me than taking someone’s vision and turning it into reality. Not long after picking up a camera for the first time, I started working with brands that I helped reach national and even global recognition. Since then, I have worked with professional athletes at every level, from Hall of Fame athletes and Olympians to jockeys and boxers.
My approach to video is built on a deep understanding of my collaborators' vision and my ability to boldly reinvent the familiar. These skills have led me all around the country shooting advertisements and documentaries. From filming the World Beard and Mustache Championships to filming on the track during the Kentucky Derby, I have experience across the board.
When you work with Anomaly, you will work with people who share your vision as passionately as you do.
